Teaching

Though I don’t come from a family of musicians, my parents always encouraged me to pursue what I felt was giving me joy, and piano soon took a central place in my life. At eleven years old (a relatively late age to start learning an instrument) I joined my neighbourhood music school, where I was fortunate enough to meet Sergio De Simone, a young and inspiring teacher who instilled in me the enthusiasm and fascination for the piano and its world, a love which still accompanies me today. That encounter was nothing less than life-determining, as Sergio accompanied my musical development until my adult age, and remains an invaluable mentor to this day.

Reflecting on my experience, I owe much of my emotional, cultural and intellectual growth to music, which I consider an invaluable teacher and a wonderful art. It had a profound impact on my life, and forms the core of who I am today. For this reason, teaching plays a central role in my life and a necessary complement to performing. I consider myself very fortunate in having the opportunity to share my passion and knowledge with my students, guiding and inspiring them in this enriching journey.

My lessons aim to meet the unique needs of each student. My goal is to offer comprehensive guidance through performance, technique, sight-reading, theory, and music history.

My Experience
I run my private teaching practice in Greenwich, Southeast London. I have taught piano students of all ages and all abilities for fifteen years, and have extensive experience teaching both very young children as well as advanced students. I have successfully guided many students aged 4 and 5 to read music, memorize and perform in recitals, often within the span of one year.

Performance Opportunities
I aim to host two annual recitals for my students, often collaborating with other music teachers, in addition to regular studio classes and group lessons, where students of similar level can listen to each other in a friendly environment and learn to share constructive feedback.

Remote Lessons via Zoom, Skype, Facetime, WhatsApp
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 Pandemic, remote learning has become a staple of our everyday lives. Whilst I strongly believe that nothing can replace the experience of live music-making and the face-to-face relationship between student and teacher, I have had surprising and unexpected positive experiences with remote teaching, which has now become a useful integration to in-person classes.
